Newcomers Listen Up! How to Save 2 Months Of Struggling Online.
by Chris Farrell
Want to make money online? The next 2 minutes is going to save you 2 months.
You are not going to make money online by driving traffic to a sales page.** Yes you did read that correctly. You will however make money online by driving traffic to a squeeze page. And then developing a relationship with your list. What is a squeeze page? A squeeze page is a web page that has only one purpose -- to build your list. A squeeze page will have an opt in form on it -- to allow your visitors to join your list. As an incentive for your visitor to sign up to your list -- you will offer a free gift that MUST BE OF VALUE. In fact -- I'd go as far to say -- the product that you were thinking about selling -- you may want to consider giving it away for free (if you have the rights to do this -- or if it is your own product). In return for this gift -- your visitor will give you his email address.
A website is not a business. A product is not a business. What is a business? Customers.

Once you start building your list -- you begin a relationship with them. Communicate with them -- email them. Dare I suggest treat people AS PEOPLE -- NOT just cyber credit cards. A relationship is a two way street - don't be nervous about communicating. Find out about who has signed up. What do they want to know? What are their struggles? What are their fears? What are their problems? Ever since the dawn of time -- the individual who discovers someone's need -- and then provides a solution to this need -- will do well. So you now have a list -- albeit a small one. Rather than relentlessly trying to crow-bar out their credit card -- instead nurture a relationship with them. When I began I did not mail one offer to my list for almost 6 months. I spent the first 6 months building my list and nurturing a relationship with those on it. Remember a website is not a business. There are millions of websites that don't make any money. A product is not a business either. Anyone can get a product to sell. What then is a business? Customers. So make sure you look after yours. (PS - I have a new video course called Love Your List -- which is all about HOW to build a deep and real relationship with your list. This is coming in August 2011.
(**I exaggerate slightly. Sure you may make a little money driving traffic to a sales page (maybe a handful of sales) - but for longevity in this bizz - you will want to develop your own customer base.)

Hi Chris, i must say that i am new in this business, but i am a good learner and i found this information great and helpful. thanks again.
It takes time to Implement this tool, and as Cris says, the TOOLS and SKILLS NEED to be understood, then Implemented! Customers NEED value, and you NEED the Valuable Customers to make a SOLID and TRUE Business! I am new, educating myself. My instincts tell me Cris is a genuine Mentor!
this is just the mentoring i need
and applies offline as well as online.
I see now why I didn't make my online when I tried before. NO COMMUNICATION and NO RELATIONSHIP. I guess that leads to GREED in some ways. Instead of caring about the almighty dollar, I will from now put my customers first from now on.
Had to comment; also a quick, question? Where IS "Love Your List"??? It's now April 22, 2011. Have I missed it? Is it hidden somewhere?? Looking forward to finding it, soon! Allyson
Thanks for reminding me how important it is to treat my customers like people and not an atm machine... Sometimes I get so involeved in trying to provide a good product to sell to my customers that I forget all about there wants and needs...
HI! Chris! Iam working and reading and learning about the list project. It's very interesting and very helpful. Thanks chris!
Hi Chris..Olivier here. I agree with your point of view. This is actually my way to proceed. I'm a newcomer since I've seen you and Mike on "Afiliate dot com" campaign. I'm still learning skills, I've never made a cent on the Web. But I know my turn will come.. I know that beeing patient and serious on this stuff will someday pay me back for all my efforts. Once again, a huge thank to you and your staff to exist! Regards, Olivier.
Hello members, friends, the team & Chris, As usual, every word here is spot on! Building a list and a relationship with them is the way to long term success. We have been members for over 1 year and are still not where we should be and now I see why. I will get back to list building, and forming trust with what I share with them by adding more value. Also being less impatient to start earning those big paydays despite the need we all have to earn more. It is essential to make extra money as prices always rise quicker than income, so until we reach that desired position where 100's or more are earned most days we will build our lists first. Thank you Chris for putting us back on track and now back to work on doing what is right and knowing that this will lead us to the Holy Grail of making a living online that allows freedom to live a better life and help others to do likewise as you are doing. Regards to all, Stephen & Jennifer.
