So -- have you heard about Google+ (pronounced Google Plus) ?
Just when we thought Facebook had it all sown up -- along comes a new kid on the block.
Google has just taking a giant step directly onto Facebook's market.
Ladies and gentlemen....please welcome - the first serious contender to the Facebook crown....
...in the red corner...
Google+
So - what is Google+?
Google+ is Google's own social network.
Google+ is not yet publicly available -- however they did have a 'soft' launch a few days ago.
Google+ opened their doors on Wednesday afternoon (June29th) for those lucky enough to have received an invitation.
The demand for access was so insane - that within a few hours they had closed their doors already!
Lets have a quick look at Google+.
Also -- get ready for this!
New Terms For US To Start Getting Comfortable With!
Google+ will be introducing some new words and terms into our vocabulary very soon.
Just as how a few years ago - we never would have heard ourselves talking about a WALL or NEWS FEED -- now get ready to be using terms such as:
Circles - this means we can share content with certain groups or subsections of friends - such as colleagues - family or classmates. In this way - you can share content relevant to that particular group of contacts.
Hangouts - this means we can connect with friends in a new and unique way. Instant Messengers don't always fit the bill - but Google believes that Hangouts will. Google+ allows for fluid - enjoyable on-screen hangouts with your friends.
Sparks - with Sparks we can gather and enjoy content based on our interests and likes. Sparks will collect the content for you based on what you're interested in - so that you always have a steady stream of content to enjoy and share.
Mobile - now this is super groovy! Google+ will be fully integrated into your mobile phone - utilizing your phones basic functions (GPS, Camera, etc) to create an easy-to-share Google+ experience.
Personally - I have to say - Google+ looks good.
And I suspect that an equivalent of Facebooks Fan Pages - will be announced soon too for Google+
As of right now - Google+ is not open for everyone.
But as soon as it is -- I will let you know.
